the Arab World and its reaction on the "ban on minarets" initiative
I wonder what the reaction of the Arab World will be if the Swiss become the first European nation after Germany’s passing of the Nürnberger Gesetze (Nuremberg Laws) in 1935 to systematically discriminate against a particular religion. At the time, Hitler possessed the strong desire to be rid of Jews.
What do you feel about the possible repercussions if Switzerland eventually encacted the ban?

This would be the end of Switzerland and its humanitarian as well as neutral tradition.
This country cannot be an advocate for human rights and at the same time violate the most fundamental rights of every individual - THE FREEDOM FROM DISCRIMINATION!

I think the reaction will be even more severe as it was when the Danes published the disputed Muhammad cartoons. This will probably be the case because the Swiss are seen as the Sovereign of their country. A ban on minarets - which is actually initiated and accepted by the Swiss - would represent the first and utmost collective attack on Islam on constitutional level.
